Wright Airlines was founded in 1966 and it is regarded by many as the first regional airlines in the USA. The company expanded in 1968 by acquiring Tyme Airlines (Based in Columbus Ohio) and Air Commuter Airlines (Based in Cleveland).
The company was first to inaugurate an air bridge schedule between Cleveland Lakefront Airport and Detroit which was extremely popular with business travellers )
as shown on this excerpt of Wright Airlines timetable circa 1970 (from the Arthur Na collection)

the company expanded beyond Cleveland and Detroit .

Under the helm of Gilbert Singerman, the company was able to expand to other numerous cities and moved part of the Airline operations to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The airline operated a wide range of aircraft the Convair 440 (1972-1977), the DHC6 Twin otter (1967-1978), the DH 114 Riley Heron (1967-1972)

On October 1, 1983 it merged with Aeromech Airlines from Clarksburg West Virginia
AEROMECH AIRLINES
The company was founded in 1951 as a FBO in Clarksburg WV ND AIR TAXI OPERATIONS WERE UNDERTAKEN until 1971 when regular scheduled passenger service commenced centered West Virginia, Maryland, DC and Ohio.F Fm 1978 to 1980, the company operated as an Alleghany Commuter . The Airline operated the Cessna 310 and 402, the Beechcraft BE 99 (1974-1984),the Emb110 and the DHC 6 Twin Otter (1978-1980).

Unfortunately expansion of both aircraft and services was too rapid resulting in losses that company could not sustain. The company entered Chap 11 of bankruptcy law in late 1984 and by December 1985 entered Chap 7 liquidation.

Flights were operated with the Convair 600/640, the EMB 110 and the Shorts 360 .For a short while, the company sub leased Air Illinois BAC 111-203AE (N1542) from May to October 1984
