The turbulent early eighties were not kind to commercial aviation : the deregulation of 1978 and the subsequent economic crisis had a toll on the operations of many major and regional airlines . This uncertainty is best reflected in the changes of destinations experience by MVA
In 1980, the company served 15 destinations in upper Midwestern part of the USA : Clinton. Dubuque, Milwaukee, Chicago, Moline, La Crosse,Waterloo, Des Moines, Cedar Rapides, Kansas City, Burlington. Omaha, Ottumwa , Peoria and Minneapolis-St Paul.(based on MVA timetable dated 27/4/1980)
In 1981, Indianapolis is introduced whereas Des Moines stopped being served.
In 1982 the company moves its HQ to Moline and experiences a major restructuring : if Madison is added to the network, La Crosse,Waterloo, Indianapolis, Ottumwa , Peoria and Clinton are lost (based on MVA timetable dated 25/4/1982)
1983 will be kinder as Benton Harbor, Rockford, and St Louis will be added to the network but Omaha waves good bye.(based on MVA timetable dated 24/4/1983)
The timetable dated December 1, 1984 present the following map
