CHAM WINGS AIRLINES

CHAM WINGS AIRLINES

It is one of the few  privately owned airline companies (the other being FlyDamas)  in Syria after the deregulation/liberalization of the airline industry in Syria in the mid 2000

Founded in 2006 by Issam Shammout, a Syrian businessman, the company got its AOC in 2007 and started its operations in March 3,  2008 with non-scheduled flights to Baghdad from Damascus Airport . The initial fleet was chartered from Sky wings (Greece) and consisted of a MD82 (SX-BTL) and MD83 (SX-BTF)

As the government viewed the airline as a competitor to SYRIANAIR , it allowed the airline to operate only charter flights. This model could not be sustainable and the company stopped its operations in 2012 following the civil unrest in the country.

As Syrian Pear Airlines ,another private Syrian air company, never started operations although SYRIANAIR had a 25% stake in the company., Cham wings airlines was allowed to fly schedule air services and resumed operations in 2014 with flights to Qamishly, Beirut, Baghdad and Kuwait

The company is Heard-quartered in Damascus and operates an all airbus fleet .

The fleet consists of 4 Airbuses YK-BAA,YK-BAB,YK-BAE and YK-BAG.
