Few of the airlines founded in the 1990s survive as of today. One of them Air south briefly operated from 1994 to 1997 from Atlanta although the company was based in Columbia S.C . Its low cost strategy could not compete with behemoth Delta Airlines and following poor management decision the company folded in 1997. Its fleet consisted of Boeing 737-200 the workhorse for any new company at that time with 122 seats all economy class accommodation
Flights began in August 1994 according the bureau of transport statistics and consisted 3 routes : Atlanta-Columbia, Atlanta-Pete-Clearwater International and St. Pete-–Clearwater International -Miami. The network did not change until November 1994 when Raleigh-Durham, Tallahassee and Baltimore were added. The route system consisted of the following routes :ATL-CAE, ATL-TLH,ATL-RDU,BWI-RDU,CAE-RDU,MIA-PIE and PIE-TLH In December 1994 Jacksonville joins the network with 3 additional routes : BWI-CAE,CAE-JAX, and MIA-JAX (see map below).
