ROYAL AIR MAROC ARAB AVIATION IN THE 50S

ROYAL AIR MAROC

ROYAL AIR MAROC  is the result of the merger in 1953  of AIR ATLAS  "Compagnie Cherifienne de l' Air  founded in 1946 and AIR MAROC better known as Compagnie Cherifienne de Transports Aeriens -Air Maroc founded in 1947 and known until 1957 as AIR ATLAS/AIR MAROC.

Air Atlas began operations in November 1946 with the Junkers Ju52 to the southern regional cities of France Toulouse and Perpignan were Air/Rail connections were offered.
The DC3 will be introduced in 1948,

The Languedoc will join Air Atlas in 1951 and will operate the following services

Air Maroc, on the other hand, had a fleet of Curtiss C46 (to operate cargo flights), DC3  and 6SO-30P Bretagne (36-40 seats configurationm) that joined the fleet in July 1951.


The Air Maroc timetable dated May 1, 1953 shows flights to Bordeaux, Toulouse, Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Geneva ,Milan,Tanger, Rabat and Casablanca

Morocco was granted independence from France in 1957 and on June 28 1957 Air Atlas Air maroc became ROYAL AIR MAROC.

 were leased from Air France in July 1958 allowing the replacement of the DC4 on its main line .
